Enjoy this awesome journey visiting the Imperial City of Cusco and its most important Inca ruins: Sacsayhuaman, Q’enqo, Puca Pucará and Tambomachay!
Sacsayhuaman
One of the most impressive historical places in Cusco, this massive structure looms over the city. It was designed for ceremonial activities and several of its large structures at the site may also have been used during rituals.
Q’enqo
In Quechua, Q’enqo means labyrinth or zigzag, and archeologists theorize that this site served a purely religious role. You’ll see a semicircular amphitheater with trapezoidal niches and a monolith that looks like a puma, which measures about six feet high.
Puca Pucará
This important site is only six miles away from the city of Cusco. Puca means red in Quechua, and Pucara is a lookout or fort. This small site has all the characteristics of a military fort, made from red stone.
Tambomachay
This fascinating archeological site is thought to has been used as a Temple to the Water. There are some very impressive canals, aqueducts and cascades carved in stone, designed to channel water flowing from a nearby stream.
